I was shooting happily away, and he didn't seem to mind. In fact, he seemed to take notice of me only enough to strike a classic pose for the camera.
Meeting of two hippos

The giraffes had just had a baby and so were the subject of much of the zoo activity. In fact this africian savannah building was the single busiest we saw while at the zoo.
The hippo was giving us a show walking from the water to a food dish at the far end of their space to eat.
Our first stop at the zoo on this trip was to the Africian Savannah building. The birds and Giraffes were both very active as the zoo keepers were busy feeding both of them.

A coyote, seen at Griffith Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California. This was shot while panning, and I counted myself lucky that the proper parts of the picture blurred while the coyote itself is relatively clear.

These pictures were taken from a whale-watching boat in the San Francisco Bay Area (CA) and on the offshore route to Farallon Island, on a cloudy november day approximately between 9am and 4pm.
Fauna in this area includes dolphins, porpoises, sharks, whales, seals, sealions, and several types of sea birds.
Many thanks to the Center for Digital Archaeology (www.codifi.info) for lending me a suitable camera, and to my friend Michele (www.flickr.com/photos/miguel83/) for the telephoto lens.
Photos were edited and metadata added in Adobe Lightroom 3.

The horse, Lord Gyllene was the winner of the 1997 Grand National and the sculpture was presented by his owner Stanley W. Clarke, in gratitude for the work of the Animal Health Care Trust. The dog and cat are presumably family pets of the racehorse owner Stanley Clarke who donated the sculpture, but they also reflect the AHT's two clinics, one for dogs and cats and one for horses, which provide specialist referral services to the veterinary profession.
