Happy Tails: Emmy

I adopted "Emmy" on 12/23/10. Her name is now Rainey. Full name of Rainey Monkeyton Ethridge. She now has a friend/big sister, my 10-year-old cat, Billie Ferretotious Difranco (another Lollypop Farm cat).

They will sleep next to each other, but not often because Rainey sees Billie's tail and must attack it. She loves to play, especially in the tub as long as the water is off.

Rainey is extremely lovey and follows me around most everywhere I go. She is also quite the purr machine.

Just wanted to let you all know she is happy and loved, and her Pittsford Vets report that her initial checkup is good. She finished the ear meds and is in good health. Thank you for taking care of her so that I could adopt her.

Billie thanks you too. Well, maybe not yet, but she will...

"Other Conditions"

I *had* to take a shot of this - the clause about "other conditions" has become somewhat of a trademark for our family regarding my health (or lack thereof) and it came from this Disney caveat!

Near Prineville, Oregon, "going batting" means hunting for the actual vampire-like mammals and not hitting the cages!

A group of employees from the BLM's Prineville District and the Ochoco National Forest along with several hearty volunteers recently headed out to participate in the 2012 Oregon Bat Grid Surveys.

These surveys are designed to gather information about bat species. Surveyors record bat calls and check overall bat health.

Looloo is a 2-mos old chick with floofy feathers. She was rescued from the mouth of a feral cat after being dumped (or after an escape). She was nursed back to health by her rescuers who were kind enough to keep her until she was big enough for the flock.

Ambassador Huebner meets "Chelsea the Kiwi" - Massey University, Palmerston North August 13, 2010

The Ambassador made an official visit to Palmerston North on Friday, August 13th during which he visited Massey University for the first time.

As part of his University program, the Ambassador toured the Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences hosted by Head of Institute Professor Frazer Allan and Professor Hugh Blair.

This involved seeing, first hand, the work of the Institute's studentsand academic staff. The Ambassador was highly impressed with thepassion and commitment of the students and staff to their work.

An important part of this involves researching and diagnosing anextensive array of animal health issues.

The Ambassador saw a variety of animals under care, including a Yellow-Eyed Penguin, a Harrier hawk and a native Skink. A special highlightfor the Ambassador was his introduction to "Chelsea" a mature New Zealand Kiwi who was recovering in the Institute's specialist care centre.

Animals are hard to figure out.

Reaper has been marking Joe's work uniform. It's not particularly pleasant to come home to a very upset husband for something I have no control over.

I took him into the vet because I've been thinking it was behavioral. I've tried everything short of medicating him. Turns out though, he had a urinary infection.

Boy do I feel bad. That doesn't mean there isn't a behavioral issue, but currently we have something definite to fix to see if this is the main cause or not.

Happy Tails: Sweet Potato

Hi Lollypop Farm,

We adopted Sweet Potato, a 10 year old female Brittany, on August 19, 2012. Sweet Potato, we knew, came with some serious health issues, such as a very significant heart murmur, etc., but we knew we had to adopt her anyway. She moved into our hearts and home like she had lived with us forever. Two days after we brought her home, we noticed she was sneezing. We quickly got her in for her vet check, and she had developed pneumonia. The amazing thing was that she pulled through, grew her beautiful coat back, and become such a joy to each family member in our home. She was like an angel from heaven, a doggie blessing to us. On March 19, 2013, Sweet Potato sadly passed away, taking part of our hearts with her. She had a cancerous tumor on her liver that hemorrhaged. We just wanted to let you know that we think that she was the most perfect dog ever, and our lives were immensely touched by her sweet life. The information that was on her cage at Lollypop Farm the day we adopted her said something like, “Sweet Potato...her name is what she is—sweet.”

Thank you for allowing us to adopt Sweet Potato. We miss her dearly.

Sincerely,
Stephanie S.

Adopt James

James is 8 years old and in great health. James is a gorgeous sweetheart that just wants to be loved. He is definitely a lover, not a fighter. He would be happy in pretty much any home as long as there is attention and of course FOOD.

UPDATE: As of 11/17/08 poor James has been at the shelter for one year. Can you find it in your heart to take this big, lovable guy home?

The horse, Lord Gyllene was the winner of the 1997 Grand National and the sculpture was presented by his owner Stanley W. Clarke, in gratitude for the work of the Animal Health Care Trust. The dog and cat are presumably family pets of the racehorse owner Stanley Clarke who donated the sculpture, but they also reflect the AHT's two clinics, one for dogs and cats and one for horses, which provide specialist referral services to the veterinary profession.
