Nola the Northern White Rhinoceros female (Ceratotherium simum cottoni)

The northern white rhinoceros, or northern square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni), is one of the two subspecies of the white rhinoceros. These animals are extinct in the wild and there are currently seven left in captivity - two at the San Diego Safari Park.
This is Nola, a female NWR at the San Diego Safari Park in Escondido, CA. Nola has an unual horn structure called an Einiosaurus-like horn. It curves down and the top horn had to actually be cut because it was curving down too much. Unfortunately this species of rhino will be extinct in our lifetime.
