I found these sweet little pups on my back porch. They had been making squeaky noises all afternoon, and as the sun approached the horizon, their mother hadn't come back yet. When I went outside, they immediately climbed up my shirt and started suckling my shirt. They were later brougt to a wildlife rehabilitation center, where the rehabilitors said that their behavior indicated that their mother had probably died.

The northern white rhinoceros, or northern square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni), is one of the two subspecies of the white rhinoceros. These animals are extinct in the wild and there are currently seven left in captivity - two at the San Diego Safari Park.

This is Angalifu, a male at the San Diego Safari Park in Escondido, CA. Angalifu is one of three male Northern White Rhino's in the world. Unfortunately this species of rhino will be extinct in our lifetime.

Some resting pigs at the IL State Fair, after being in the Swine Show. To be honest I found it to be quite unfair and mean as some people just treat their hogs as a slice of pork and slap them around. I know for a fact I will rather not attend one of these shows again simply because any form of whipping or hitting an animal around is just wrong. Probably my sensitive side showing, because they are harmless animals and take enough of their life to become something we put on the table and eat.

Donkey charity launches free fostering events
PRESS RELEASE from The Donkey Sanctuary
12 September 11

International animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary is today launching a programme of free, behind-the-scenes events to encourage donkey lovers to find out more about fostering.

The charity, which runs a scheme where fit and healthy donkeys and mules are fostered by private homes, is seeing a big increase in the number of animals coming into their care, and is looking for more people to provide loving homes for these donkeys and mules.

Five events are taking place around the UK in October, where people interested in fostering will be able to go behind-the-scenes at homes that currently foster donkeys with The Donkey Sanctuary, learn more about the scheme and find out if fostering could be for them.

The free events are taking place at the following locations:

•Coven, Wolverhampton - Saturday 1 October, 10am – 1pm
•Brentwood, Essex - Saturday 8 October, 10am – 1pm
•Caldicot, Wales - Saturday 15 October, 10am – 1pm
•Marlborough, Wiltshire - Saturday 22 October, 10am – 1pm
•Gight, Ellon, Scotland – Saturday 29 October, 10am – 1pm

Michael Crane, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Head of Welfare, says:

“Our foster owners often tell us how much fun it is to give a loving home to a pair of donkeys or mules, and this is the perfect opportunity to find out if fostering is for you. Enjoy a morning behind the scenes at one of our foster homes and see if you too could count donkeys as part of your family with The Donkey Sanctuary’s foster scheme.”

Entry is free and refreshments will be provided. Places are limited - please call 01395 573 065 for directions, further information and to book your place.

To find out more about fostering donkeys or mules with The Donkey Sanctuary, please visit www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/fostering.

About The Donkey Sanctuary
International animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary was founded by the late Dr Elisabeth Svendsen M.B.E. in 1969 and aims to protect donkeys and mules and promote their welfare worldwide.

The Donkey Sanctuary supports projects to relieve the suffering of donkeys in 29 countries worldwide, including sanctuaries across Europe, where more than 14,500 donkeys and mules have been cared for, and major projects in Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Kenya and Mexico, where donkey welfare is improved through community education and veterinary work.

Any donation, no matter how small, is gratefully received by The Donkey Sanctuary and one of the best ways to support the charity into the future is to give regularly by direct debit.

For further information telephone: 01395 578222, view www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk or visit the charity’s headquarters near Sidmouth in Devon (open 365 days/free admission).

Big Beautiful Face Statue in Tenerife

Free picture of the big golden face statue that was created for you by the generous friend epsos.de in the European island of Tenerife.

This beautiful picture can be used for free, if you link epSos.de as the original author of the image.

Be great and show it to your friends !

This big face statue is standing in the centre of the theatre plaza in the capital city of the Canary Islands.

The golden light is created by the evening photography technique that is known as the long exposure method in the low light photography.

The face is made of metal and can be seen for free.

If you look closer, you can spot a ghost in this picture.

The person - the central complex of body of perception, usually on a belly surface of the head for animals who have that. It can, depending on definition in a human case, include hair, a forehead, an eyebrow, eyelashes, eyes, a nose, ears, cheeks, a mouth, lips, philtrum, temple, teeth, skin and a chin. The person has use of expression, emergence and identity among others. It also has various feelings as olfaction, taste, hearing and vision.

The face - a feature which best distinguishes the person. There are "special" areas of a human brain, such as area of the person which when the damaged prevent recognition of persons even close members of the family. The sample of certain bodies, such as eyes or parts of it is used in biometric identification that is unique to identify people.

Cosmetic operation can be used to change emergence of features. The plastic surgery can be used also in cases of an obverse trauma, injury of a face. Strictly spoiled people received recently full face transplantations and partial skin transplantations and a muscular fabric.

Faces are important for emotion expression, meaningly or subconsciously. The frown designates disapproval; the smile usually means that someone is glad. Ability to read emotion on someone's face is "the fundamental basis for sympathy and ability to interpret reaction of the person and to predict probability of the following povedeniye".

Thank you for sharing this picture with your friends !

Diergaarde Blijdorp (Official Dutch name: Stichting Koninklijke Rotterdamse Diergaarde, Foundation Royal Zoo of Rotterdam) is a zoo in the northwestern part of Rotterdam, one of the oldest zoos in the Netherlands. In 2007 it celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Diergaarde Blijdorp is a member of the Dutch Zoo Federation (NVD) and the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).

History

Giraffes and monumental building
The original Rotterdam Zoo was lost in the bombing of Rotterdam in World War II, which destroyed most of the city centre. Some streetnames, such as Diergaardesingel (Zoolane), still recall the old zoo. Blijdorp was rebuilt slightly to the north, where it opened to the public in its current location on December 7, 1940. The new zoo was designed by Dutch architect Sybold van Ravesteyn, who designed the central railway station in Rotterdam, as well. In 2001, 'Blijdorp' became almost twice as large when it opened a new western part, called Oceanium, with its main attraction an aquarium. In 2007, the zoo was declared a rijksmonument.[3]

In May 2007 the zoo appeared in the news when Bokito, Blijdorp's silverback gorilla, escaped from his enclosure and seriously injured a female visitor. Before the attack, the woman was a regular visitor of the zoo (on average 4 times per week) and claimed to have a special bond with Bokito, regularly touching the glass between her and the gorilla, making eye contact and smiling to him.[4]

In October 2010, the city of Rotterdam decided to reduce its yearly funding of Blijdorp from nearly 4.5 to about 0.8 million Euro until 2015.[5] The zoo and its supporters protested the decision, claiming it is unclear if the zoo can continue to operate with the reduced budget.[6]
