This family of Kudu were just staring at us... Paul had heard a roar of some kind just before and we thaught we'd watch for awhile... we were so engrossed in there behaviour that we never noticed a male bull elephant sneaking up behind our vehicle... next thing we felt a nudge and again the same noise... "what the heck"... he had nuged the vehicle with his trunk as if to say "get out of my way" We didn't need to be asked twice and we continued on our journey....

Nearly all of the animals in the small, indoor zoo we visited today receive much attention from their human caretakers. And, many exhibit attention-getting behavior, especially when a nearby animal is being fed or pet by a zoo volunteer.
This guy has grown to a massive size. But, in the same cage is a smaller cousin. The lighter-weight tortoise will use his front feet to climb up the fencing, enough to topple over onto his back. Then, he needs human help to become upright again. Attention!
Of course, he never flips over when the human activity is low.
